Sharing is Caring

My new friend and I were discussing the joy of pet ownership. When I mentioned that my pet dog that had died, my friend asked me if she could see a picture of him. I led her into my office, where I have his pictures and some mementoes. As I spoke about him, and shared these things, the connection with my new friend deepened. I listened intently, as she shared about her past pets.

Making new friends is not always an easy task for children, especially if they have had a recent death in their family or neighborhood. Encourage your child to share their special mementoes of a deceased loved one, pet or person, with someone new. It can be a great opportunity for your child to make new heart-felt relationships.
